O projektu

Our project will focus on improving students long term physical and mental health through developing enthusiasm and motivation for taking an active part in sport and outdoor games. This is our focus because as technology has developed our children increasingly communicating with each other
through a digital media. This has led to many children wanting to spend their leisure time in front of technological devices instead of playing outside and making real-life friendships. This can have a negative influence upon their physical and mental health. This project aims to promote the advantages of outdoor games and sports and to encourage our children to play these games outside.
Our project addresses these issues for pupils between the ages of 5-14.

Due to a coronavirus pandemic are activities are postponed. We will hang out with our partners virtually until situation improves.

This is our project logo, it was selected with the most votes by students from all participating countries.

In April, we received the first taks for Erasmus + project in which we had to explore where, how, with what, with whom and what games our grandparents played. Since the 4th grade from PS Vranovci is familiar with the folklore games and dances of our homeland because they are almost all members of the folklore group, it was an interesting task for us. By agreement, we chose the most interesting games; "Kings, give me an army", "I'm grinding, I'm grinding scissors", "Two grandmothers were driving", "Fuzguz", "Battle of the capons", "Hunting on the canal", and "Worms, ants".

After rehearsing them, we agreed to dress in tradicional costumes and record every game outside, in the yard of our student Ema Drčelić. The students briefly described how we were dressed and what games we played. After a lengthy shoot, our parents prepared us a snack that we fully deserved.

Teachers of the Bogoslav Šulek elementary school, Inga Lipovac, Melita Jagodić, Nada Vardić and Davorin Rupčić, went to Slovakia for the first mobility, as part of the project "Supporting positive mental health trough outdoor games and sports" . The aim of the project is to improve the long-term physical and mental health of students through the development of enthusiasm and motivation for the active participation in sports and outdoor games. We are witnesses of students spending more and more time in digital reality, which can negatively affect their physical and mental health. We promoted the benefits of outdoor games and sports and participated with hosts and other participants from Turkey, the UK, and through zoom, with partners from Italy and Germany in school activities and outdoor field classes. On the first day, we all presented our country, city and school, talked about our country's educational system and exchanged experiences. The hosts took us through the school classrooms, while each class prepared a warm welcome. The school has about two hundred students, twelve students per class, and within the school there are two kindergarten groups aged three to six. They are equipped with all didactic and methodological materials and modern technology. Outdoor courts for all sports have been arranged, and inside the school they have one space equipped with a wall for practicing rock climbing. Their school is located in the small picturesque town of Habovka, which is surrounded by the High Tatras, so climbing is one part of their field sports activities. We participated in field classes at one of the ski resorts, where their students attend the Ski School. We also visited the outdoor pools where they have organized a swimming school as part of the fieldwork, a visit to one of the caves in the area. A tour of the Orava Castle and the Orava Open-Air Museum were included. Zuberec, Žilinsky kraj, Habovka in Slovakia impressed us, and their ancient culture, art, architecture, traditional Slovak cuisine ... we came back enriched with new ideas, knowledge and experience.

At the session of the Teachers' Council, teacher Nada Vardić presented mobility to Slovakia and shared her experiences with teachers.

Sport is a very important factor in childhood because it affects child’s proper growth and development. Sports activities at an earlier child's age contribute to easier acquisition of motor skills and developmental quality of motor and functional abilities. Sport has a positive effect on psychological health as well as the balance between psychological and physical health. In addition to influencing the proper growth and development of children, playing sports affects the development of character traits, encourages teamwork as a way of acting in adulthood, and helps in building social skills in children. The great importance of sports is in the physical aspect, because it supports the proper development of bones, muscular system and respiratory system. Sports activities affect the direction of attention and concentration, the adoption of responsibility and discipline, which ultimately affects school success. It is important to note that besides helping with the choice of adequate sports for their children, parents are those who support child's interest in sports and help to achieve 2 main interests in children, and that is fun and development!

Mobility - Turkey (Izmir)

Teachers of the Elementary School "Bogoslav Šulek", Ivana Brekalo Kaučić, Igor Bjelobabić, Tanja Matanović and Katarina Bubalo, as a part of the project "Support to mental health through games and outdoor sports", on May 31, 2022, set off for Turkey, into a new mobility in the city of Izmir, a city on the Aegean coast.

Our mobility in Turkey was opened with a wonderful grand opening at the Izmir Anadolu Imam Hatip Lisesi School where we were warmly welcomed by professors and students, as well as school and territorial authorities. Mobility was opened with interesting presentations and dances whose themes were Turkish people and culture. They also presented to us student projects and descriptions of each project.

On the second day of mobility, students played traditional street games in the school yard. The games are simple and interesting and they testify to traditional growing up with simple games (Kobalak, Matrak). All partners participated in the games and felt the charm of the games. We also visited the traditional Bazaar with lots of shops, spices, cakes and many other desserts.

On the third day of mobility, our first stop was the House of the Virgin Mary and the archeological site of Ephesus (Ephesus). The House of the Virgin Mary is considered to be the last abode of the Virgin Mary. Ephesus is one of the largest Ionian cities in Anatolia. Among the ruins, we admired the theatre, the small temple and the library. What thrilled us the most was famous monument of Ephesus, the Temple of Artemis. In the afternoon we discovered a recognizable Turkish village, Sirince, a village with rich shops and handmade products.

On the fourth day of mobility, the Erasmus team visited Sigacik, a picturesque fishing village, and the boat took us on a tour of the Aegean Sea. We tasted typical dishes and traditional cuisine. We visited the cities of Urlu and Seferihisar.

With the distribution of certificates, the wonderful experience came to an end. The hosts gave us carefully selected gifts and products for their country.

Thank you to all partners (UK, Slovakia, Germany, Italy) and especially the hosts and their students for their kindness, cordiality and professionalism and new experiences and knowledge.

As a part of the Erasmus + project "Supporting Positive Mental Health through Outdoor Games and Sport", our school's team was on mobility in Italy from October 17th to 21st. The team included classroom teacher Melita Jagodić, pedagogue Stjepan Aščić and students Lara Benić, Magdalena Čabraja and Lara Momčilović. The countries participating in the project were: Italy, Slovakia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Turkey and Croatia. The purpose of the project is to strengthen and promote good mental health through sports and outdoor games.

The outcomes of mobility are: playing games that foster cooperation, learning about the most popular sports in Italy, learning and playing traditional outdoor games, getting to know the local cultural heritage, getting to know the surrounding nature, building a connection with nature, rediscovering individual and group competitions, developing creativity, develop a sense of cultural heritage, learn how to strengthen your own physical development, learn how children played in ancient Rome, understand the differences and similarities between their lives and the lives of children in ancient times.

Our host was the I.C. Capol. D.D. in San Nicola la Strada – Caserta school. On the first day, the warm host welcomed us with a traditional song and dance, in which we participated. We visited the school and attended appropriate workshops. We also visited the City Hall. As the last activity, on the big football field, we played a real football match against the local club's junior football team. Of course, we didn't lose 😊. On the second day, we saw the beauty of downtown Naples; we admired the architecture of the Royal Palace and tasted local desserts and the inevitable Italian Pizza. The next day we relaxed our senses in the beautiful English Garden in Caserta and played traditional outdoor games in the park. The next day we went to Pompeii – the Roman ruins of an ancient city, after which we learned to play ancient Roman children's games from that era. On the last day, we visited a primary school in Caserta (a school for younger students) where we were shown the traditional Tarantella dance. We participated in a workshop of old Neapolitan children's games.

During the less than 5 days spent, friendships, which will hopefully last for many years, were made. Students from different countries fell in love with each other. The children did not remove the smiles from their faces until the last day, when it was their turn to shed many tears because of the difficult parting. We learned that friendship, companionship, nature and outdoor play are necessary part of growing.

Our students spent this week in Germany "Mental health support through sports and outdoor games", as a part of the project.
After a warm welcome from the hosts, they got to know the German educational system and had the opportunity to see their way of teaching, the appearance of the classrooms, and the school itself. They played different quizzes and games with the guidance of their new German friends.
During the week, various tournaments were organized, in football, bowling and even training in their sports hall.
In addition to the educational content, they had the opportunity to get to know the cultural and historical sights of Nuremberg with a professional guide, and they also visited the Spvgg Greuther Furth stadium.
And since it's Advent time, a wonderful Christmas market was also visited. In addition to delicious delicacies, our students also tried traditional local food.
A project coordinator meeting was held to discuss the details of further project activities, and students and teachers received certificates, at the end of the week.
Our students returned home full of impressions and happily awaiting their new friends to arrive in our beautiful city in March.

From 20. to 24. Of March, our school had been host of the Erasmus plus project named „Supporting positive mental health through outdoor games and sports“.

On the first day we welcomed our partners from United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Slovakia and Turkey at our school with a convenient program, after which our students, in the school library, presented our school and its sports activities as well as our city. Our guests took a short tour through our school and were present on some individual lessons. In the afternoon, they were received by the deputy mayor Marina Martić Puača who wished them a pleasant stay in Slavonski Brod. Under the guidance of our history teachers, our partners got to know the Brod fortress and other cultural and historical landmarks.

On the second day we introduced our partners to some of the sports activities that we are proud of in Slavonski Brod. During the morning hours they had the opportunity to learn more about boxing and to ty out boxing and a fitness training. Soon after we attended to a very interesting discourse about acrobatic rock'n'roll by a professional and multiple medal winner dancer Fabijan. After lunch it was time for bowling and swimming. All in all, students had a very interesting and fulfilling day at Vijuš sports complex.

On Wednesday, full of impression, we headed out to Šuma adrenaline park in Bebrina. It wasn’t easy, but with the help of employees and the encouragement of colleagues and friends, almost everyone bravely completed all stations and had fun. After returning to Slavonski Brod we walked to Poloj and admired beautiful view on the Sava river.

The weather served us perfectly on Thursday when we went on an excursion to the Plitvice lakes. The journey was long, but the time flew by in conversation, making new friends and singing. The proof for that is the sentence of a young German who said that he had never seen anything more beautiful in his life.

On the last day our partners came to a nearby stadium Stanko Vlainić Dida where they competed in running and played football. After returning to school and freshening up, our principal presented them with certificates and symbolic gifts to remember our school and this mobility. After lunch, everyone was a bit sad and there were also tears, because this wonderful week has come to its end. No wonder because we lived for 5 days almost as a family, in which every member is equally important and has contributed in learning, sports successes and a great atmosphere. Both students and teachers made many strong connections and lifelong friendships. Therefore, we thank our partners for their kindness, time spent with us and fair play.
